How to use ALISA - Automated Listen Again




ALiSA (Automated Listen Again) is designed to bridge between your online streaming and your Listen Again platform. With ALiSA you can record your station's output and automatically upload it to a Listen Again platform. Just complete an online schedule with details of your shows and everything you wish to record gets automatically uploaded and your recordings can be categorised as you wish. It is designed to largely automate manually uploading content for online access.

Using ALiSA

Go to your ALiSA schedule page: http://podcast.canstream.co.uk/YOURSTATION/alisa or http://listenagain.canstream.co.uk/YOURSTATION/alisa. (Replace YOURSTATION with the name supplied by us, usually the name of your station). Log in, using your supplied username and password.

You will see an empty schedule of 7 days and 24 hours:

This view can be made more manageable by selecting the schedule view you are interested in. This is done with the drop down menu at the top of the screen. You will note that it breaks down into 5 different views:

Once you have selected your preferred schedule duration ALiSA will remember this and present you with it each time you login or until you change it.

Each time slot has 4 options:
Category: this is a dropdown menu that contains all of the categories you have already manually entered into your Listen Again platform (instructions below).

To add new categories, log in to your Podcasting interface at: http://podcast.canstream.co.uk/YOURSTATION/admin or http://listenagain.canstream.co.uk/YOURSTATION/admin, again replacing YOURSTATION with your station name.

Then go to Navigation > Categories and Tags. Add a new category under the "name" column and then click "add new". It is a good idea to use each of your shows as a category, say "Breakfast Show", "Lazy Sunday Afternoon", or whatever your own shows are named. Once new categories are added refresh the ALiSA page and the new category will appear in the dropdown menu.

Message Box: This is where you would give a bit of further information about the show you are recording. A sentence or 2 would be ideal.

Duration: This dropdown menu specifies the length of the recording. So for example, if you had a lunchtime show running from 13:00 to 13:30 then you would enter 30 mins in here.

Record? This needs to be ticked for the show to be recorded. Having a tickbox here means that you can enter information about all your desired shows but turn on or off the recording of them without losing any of the data you have entered.

Important note: Once any schedule information has been entered you must click the "Submit schedule edits" box at the top of the page. It is only when this box is clicked does your schedule information get entered into ALISAs database. If you do not click this button any information entered will be lost if you navigate away from the page.
